Over the past decades, our customer has developed a number of data sets and tools. Each of these tools was developed independently from the other and often with customized software. While each tool has unique and useful features, as a whole they lack a consistent user interface and are not as a group “branded.” The Sr. Full Stack Developer will be part of the team to reprogram a set of the online data tools to harmonize the look, feel, and usability of the statistical data tools so that they use a common or limited set of user interfaces and are clearly branded.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer is expected to effectively translate business requirements, be technically savvy and a hands-on developer, but also be able to communicate and collaborate with their product owner and project team to ensure the backlog is defined properly for upcoming iterations.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer understands the “big picture” and looks just far enough ahead to avoid technical bottlenecks to focus on delivery of each sprint commitment.
When leading a team of developers for a project, the Sr. Full Stack Developer monitors the team’s performance and helps motivate, mentor and coach other members on the team to ensure the flow of value delivered each sprint.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer must be experienced and well adept to working in a Continuous Improvement Continuous Delivery CI/CD development environment, and how to help teams embrace and execute iterative delivery of product functionality.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer identifies, evaluates, and helps avoid technical debt and develops processes to create efficiencies to improve the overall quality of deliverables.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer should understand the value in incremental product development, and how to help teams embrace and execute iterative delivery of product functionality.
The Sr. Full Stack Developer is expected to be a great communicator and able to motivate other team members to meet their goals.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to evaluate cutting edge technologies and overcome technical challenges in a fast paced, iterative delivery environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, and implement next-generation cloud-based, collaborative and multi-entity data analytics application while always ensuring adherence to software engineering best practices.
- Ensure product roadmaps are clearly defined, prioritized and resourced.
- When leading a team on a project, ensure the team is meeting their goals and team members possess the skills and resources necessary to achieve their goals.
- Ensure proper planning and execution of each sprint to identify and reduce impediments to sprint goals.
- Support the Product Owner from a technical perspective to create well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria that meet the definition of sprint-ready.
- Build consensus around how to deliver solutions iteratively and minimize the amount of work required to deliver the intended value.
- Partner with architects to provide solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with evolving business requirements and architectural vision.
- Ensure adherence to security, quality standards and technical reviews for all deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science (or higher) in computer science or related field
- Proven extensive technical programming experience:
- 7 years minimum designing large systems containing multiple technologies
- 5 years minimum developing cloud native applications in AWS
- 5 years minimum working with COTS/GOTS and custom applications
- 3 years minimum of developing and using APIs for data integration
- 3 years minimum of hands-on experience with Big Data platforms
- 5 years minimum successful experience delivering solutions iteratively using Agile approaches and frameworks
- Experience in a scaled Agile environment, preferably SAFe
- Effective leader, including technical thought leadership
- Demonstrated experience leading teams on a project level
- Experience writing design documentation based on industry standards or agency standards, within an incremental product delivery environment, preferred
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
Technical Skills
- Expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle), Dynamo DB, SQL and RedShift technologies
- Experience with using Apache Kafka/Amazon MSK
- Experience with microservices architecture and microservices design patterns
- Experience with Tableau to produce BI reports
- Experience with AWS
- Preferred experience with delivering code using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices and DevOps to production
