Position Overview
The Research Analyst II will support the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) program by performing advanced data collection, validation, and analysis to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of program data. This role requires expertise in developing high-quality reports and data products that transform raw data into actionable insights for federal offices and SSBG grant recipients. The Research Analyst II will play a key role in ensuring that SSBG data activities meet federal requirements, comply with Section 508 standards, and provide meaningful value to program operations and reporting. This project supports the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Community Services (OCS).
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and analyze large datasets from SSBG grant recipients and federal offices.
- Apply rigorous data validation tools and methodologies to ensure accuracy and integrity of program data.
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive reports, dashboards, and documentation that synthesize raw data into actionable insights.
- Provide regular validation updates and maintain detailed documentation of data review processes.
- Support the use, maintenance, and enhancement of the SSBG Data Portal or similar federal data management systems.
- Develop and present data visualizations, infographics, and other storytelling tools to communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ensure all reports, deliverables, and data products are compliant with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Collaborate with federal staff, project leadership, and grant recipients to identify data issues, trends, and opportunities for program improvement.
- Support ad hoc data requests, reporting needs, and program performance assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data collection, analysis, and validation for federal programs and/or SSBG grant recipients.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and developing accurate, high-quality reports and documentation that support decision-making.
- Proficiency with data validation tools, methodologies, and large-scale datasets.
- Experience using the SSBG Data Portal or similar federal data management/reporting systems.
- Strong attention to detail with proven ability to provide clear validation updates and maintain precise documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings through data storytelling and infographics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, information systems, or a related discipline.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience with the SSBG program at the ACF.
- Familiarity with federal program performance measurement and reporting standards.
- Experience developing interactive dashboards or visualization products (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
